Our Angel on the Road, Trevor Case’s journey with cycling and love of the sport took a frightening turn one Saturday morning in the north of Johannesburg. While enjoying a routine cycle with a friend, both were struck by a vehicle and needed treatment. Despite having medical aid in place, Trevor realised a harsh reality faced by many South Africans who do not have the luxury of private hospital treatment.
This experience was the catalyst for the creation of accidentANGELS, a service that aimed to give access to private hospital treatment for road accident victims – all at an affordable rate.
Why accidentANGELS looks after cyclists
This love of cycling extends beyond Trevor’s personal experience. Last year, accidentANGELS proudly supported the CRIT Series, focusing on road safety for cyclists and getting an important message: stay safe with accidentANGELS when you’re behind the wheel and on two!
The Motivation For Accident Benefits
As we are all aware, Trevor knew the common occurrences on our country’s roads – potholes, road works, unpredictable traffic conditions and the like that could put risk to cyclists everywhere, but the biggest risk by far is being hit by a car and sustaining potentially-threatening injuries, hence the need for every cyclist to have an angel on the road.
His involvement in road racing and touring underscores his commitment to the cause. Trevor has participated in the gruelling Munga, a non-stop mountain bike race through the beautiful yet remote Karoo. For Trevor, his usual bike tours and adventures take him through a mental journey that pushes him to delve deeper. It’s more than just the physical.
What’s next for Trevor..?
Later this year, Trevor and his team at Power Lab are gearing up to explore scenic routes around Paarl and Stellenbosch and his passion is not wavering.
His story is a powerful reminder of the importance of taking safety into one’s own hands and the role accidentANGELS plays in supporting any individual who loves to take a good ride out.
Whether you’re a seasoned racer or just a social and casual cyclist, ensure that you can ride with more confidence, knowing that private medical access and treatment are there in case you’re involved in a car accident. Check out our plans here.
Stay safe, know your rights, and remember: Don’t drive faster than your angel can fly!
